Cheapass Games is pleased to return to the newsletter racket after two months of heavy travel and quiet backstage travail. We have new games, schedule updates, and more.

If you haven’t received our newsletter recently, we hope you will get this one. Several services were sending our missives to the junk folder, but we think we have ironed that out. If you don’t receive this message, please let us know!

New Games

We have three new products for you this month, including the brand new Bad Assassin!

Kill Doctor Lucky, Tideover Edition: For those who crave a daily dose of murder, the Tideover Edition of Kill Doctor Lucky is now available from DriveThruCards. This edition features cards from the Anniversary Edition (reformatted for DriveThru), and the unpublished “blue box” board from the Kickstarter video. There’s not much new here, just a version to keep this game in print until the next big edition comes along.

Bad Assassin: A new Cheapass Game! You are spymasters sending commands to Cold War secret agents, trying to convince them to kill each other or save themselves. Bad Assassin is a “board only” game, available as a poster, though you will also need one of our Island Decks to play (or any six-suited deck). We made a special “Spyland Deck” just for this game. Get ‘em both from DriveThruCards!

Starbase Jeff: This Cheapass classic took a while to return, because we had to figure out how to make it. It’s a deep space construction game for 2 to 6 players, played with square cards. DriveThru doesn’t do squares, but we figured out a way to print the cards with them, and then cut them here. That means Starbase Jeff is available only from our web store; check it out!

Coming Soon

Rochi: Ten years in the making, Rochi is finally ready for prime time, with this stunning deck from DriveThruCards. Lovingly illustrated by Mark Ferrari, Rochi is a gambling card game from Sonia Lyris’ Stranger Trilogy. Our 72-card version features the 54-card deck, plus various extra cards for tokens and tracking. Rochi was the June game for our Coconut Crabs, and it will be available for sale in July!

Renfield: Another venerable gambling game, Renfield dates all the way back to 1999. It’s a gambling trick-taking game, one of a kind, and it’s as quick and mean as the gravediggers who play it. Renfield will be our Coconut Crab game in July, available for sale in August.

Bleeding Sherwood: The first “Pearl Anniversary” makeover, Bleeding Sherwood was one of the original six Cheapass Games. It had flaws, but one simple change made the whole thing work. Bleeding Sherwood will ship to our Coconut Crabs in August, and will be available for sale in September.

Summer Travel: James Ernest slows down a little in the hot summer months, gaining some time for self-reflection and graphic design. He will be at South Pacific Game Fest in San Diego (June 19-21) and Gen Con in Indianapolis (July 30-August 2). For a full list of James Ernest’s travels, check our Schedule page.
